 1st IECB Certification Examination

The Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE) through the Industrial Engineering Certification Board (IECB) administered the 1st Industrial Engineering Certification Examination last May 23, 2009 at the Procter and Gamble Auditorium, College of Engineering, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Q. C. The historic examination is participated by new graduates of B.S. in Industrial Engineering and those with less than 10 years of relevant experience.  Sixty examinees took the first nationwide CIE examination and 30 of them successfully passed. This figure represents a 50% national passing rate. The first place is clinched by Mr. Amando A. Radomes, Jr. of University of San Carlos (Cebu) with a grade of 87.00%; second place by Mr. Francis Emmanuel C. Otadoy of University of San Carlos (Cebu) with 81.17% and third place by Mr. Christopher E. Tupaz of Adamson University with 79.71%.

The CIE examination was the product of a series of dialogues and consultations among academe, industry practitioners and international counterparts.  It is an important initial step to enhance and professionalize the practice of Industrial Engineering (IE) in the country. The program BSIE was first offered into the country by Adamson University in 1935 and since then it continues to evolve  in a very dynamic curriculum producing graduates that are in demand in the service and manufacturing sectors. IE focuses on continuous improvement, productivity, systems and operational excellence and many of its graduates occupy key management positions in various companies.

Also, since 2008, the IECB has an ongoing certification program for Professional Industrial Engineers (PIE) among members of the PIIE who have significant Industrial Engineering experience and who have established respectable and exemplary track record of practice in the academe and/or in the industry for at least ten years. To date, IECB has certified 264 Professional Industrial Engineers practicing here and abroad.

Oathtaking of successful examinees shall be held on August 28, 2009 in Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Makati City.  The program starts at 6:00 PM.  This event will coincide with PIIE’s 32nd GMM.  For inquiries please call 879-8103, 879-8381 or visit our website www.piie.org and www.iecb.com.ph.

1st IECB Certification Examination

In any industry, professional certification is valuable to promote a clearer public awareness
and adds credibility and respect. Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers (PIIE)
provides leadership for developing the industrial engineering profession and is dedicated
to advancing the technical and managerial excellence of industrial engineers, with a
regulatory advocacy leading toward standardized academic curriculum and globally
recognized professional certification.

The 1st ever Industrial Engineer Certification Exam was held Saturday May 23, 2009
at University of the Philippines Diliman Campus, College of Engineering Procter &
Gamble room, Melchor Hall. This historic event features 60 hopeful examinees who
wish to enhance their qualifications and be professionally recognized. After the
examination, PIIE President Mr. Vicente L. Co addresses the examinees on the
importance of the certification exam and congratulates them for being the
1st batch of Industrial Engineers who took part on this very special day.
The results will be posted on IECB website after 2 months.
